KDEBWM makes public appeal to rent backhoes to speed up Taman Sri Muda flood waste removal

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, Jan 3 — Individuals or companies that own backhoes are invited to rent out their vehicles to speed up the process of removing post-flood waste in Taman Sri Muda, Section 25.

This is necessary as KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) lacks the machinery needed to carry damaged wooden items, cupboards, and metal scraps in the area, said managing director Ramli Mohd Tahir.

“There is a lot of post-flood waste in Taman Sri Muda, and we apologise to residents for the delay as we are short of backhoes,” he said when contacted.

Ramli added the clearing clogged drains, roads and ditches will be done once the process of collecting post-flood waste in the entire area has been completed.

He also asked locals to help KDEBWM employees put waste into their lorries, to expedite the collection process.

“Our focus is not just on removing garbage from victims’ houses, but also on the cleaning operation,” Ramli said.

Those who wish to rent out their backhoes can refer to KDEBWM’s Facebook and website, or contact its Taman Sri Muda operations manager Rizal at 013-3228231.

Earlier, Ramli said the post-flood waste collection process from all flood-affected areas has reached 85 per cent, with Taman Sri Muda at 65 per cent and expected to be completed between Thursday to Sunday.
