Kuala Selangor – Sabak Bernam road reopens ahead of schedule

SHAH ALAM, Jan 12 — The Kuala Selangor–Sabak Bernam road between the junction of Jalan Permatang and Jalan Bukit Belimbing, which was closed to traffic last night, was reopened at 6am today, said the Kuala Selangor Public Works Department (JKR).

In a statement on Facebook, the department said the opening comes after successfully removing the damaged portion of a pedestrian bridge located in front of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Permatang along the route.

“The removal of the damaged portion was completed earlier than scheduled. Work started at 11pm last night and was completed by 5.30am this morning,” said PWD.

The department thanked the Federal Route 5 concessionaire Roadcare (M) Sdn Bhd for its fast work and the Kuala Selangor District Police headquarters for helping to control the traffic during the closure.

Previously, the district PWD had expected the work to be completed at 6.30am tomorrow.

On Monday, the department reminded the public to be careful when passing under the pedestrian bridge following an accident where a heavy vehicle collided into the bridge.
