SHAH ALAM, Jan 11 — The Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) aid for flood victims in the state has benefited approximately 27,383 families as of today, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
In an infographic post shared on Twitter, he said the aid has cost an estimated RM27.49 million in allocations.
The district with the highest number of aid recipients is Petaling at 8,373 and costing RM8.37 million, followed by Hulu Langat with 6,457 recipients and costing RM6.47 million, and Klang with 6,017 recipients and costing RM6.06 million.
The district with the highest number of fatalities caused by the floods is Klang with five, followed by Sepang with three, Hulu Langat with two, and Kuala Langat with one.
On December 21 last year, the state government allocated RM100 million in funds under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit initiative, due to the recent heavy floods caused by heavy continuous rain from December 17 to December 19.
Apart from infrastructural recovery, the initiative also covers RM10,000 cash aid to the families of flood victims who perished in the incident. RM1,000 cash aid will also be provided to the heads of flood victims’ families, to help them restore their homes and cover damages.
Individuals who qualify for the aid include three categories; flood victims who were moved to temporary relief centres, those who moved to private locations, as well as those who chose to remain with their homes.
