MetMalaysia: Rains, thunderstorms for Selangor, other states today

By Jerry Choong

SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — Selangor and several other states are projected to experience rain and thunderstorms for today evening and early tonight, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia)

In a statement on Twitter, it attributed this to the low-pressure weather system in the Philippines, which is not expected to develop into a significant tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.

“The weather system west of the Palawan Island is projected to move northwest, away from the country. In general, states in the north and east of the Peninsular are expected to experience hot and dry weather.

“Whereas in Sabah’s western areas, north and central Sarawak, and the Peninsular’s west coast including Selangor, Perak, Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory, Putrajaya Federal Territory, Negeri Sembilan, and Melaka, is expected to undergo rain and thunderstorms from the evening until early night,” MetMalaysia said.

It advised the public to constantly refer to the www.met.gov.my website and all social media outlets, as well as download the myCuaca app for the latest verified information.
