More than 1,300 flood-hit families receive cash aid in Kota Kemuning

SHAH ALAM, Jan 13 — A total of 1,366 flood-affected families in Kota Kemuning received the cash aid of RM1,000 under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme yesterday.

Its state assemblyman V Ganabatirau said the recipients were among the 3,000 flood victims in Bukit Lanchong, Lanchung Jaya and Taman Alam Indah, here.

Meanwhile, Ganabatirau had informed families that have yet to receive the assistance of a waiting period due to the high volume of applications in process.

“We understand they may be stressful because of the incident. However, each document needs to be reviewed thoroughly. The same documents are also used by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) and the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU).

“Therefore, we hope they can be patient, and we will ensure that they receive the aid,” he told SelangorKini

Ganabatirau, who is also the state executive councillor for community welfare, said that apart from the BSB initiative, the 1,366 families had also received the Bantuan Wang Ihsan cash aid of RM1,000 from the Federal government.

As for the Bantuan Keperluan Harian, the cash aid of RM2,500 also has been distributed to some of the flood victims.

“This would bring the total cash aid received by each head of the families amounting to RM4,500, both from the Federal and state governments. Hopefully, it would help ease their burden from the losses suffered from the incident,” he said.

On December 21 last year, the state government had allocated a fund amounting to RM100 million for the BSB initiative following the major floods in several districts on December 18.
