Over 11,000 flood-hit families receive BSB cash aid

SHAH ALAM, Jan 6 — A total of 11,481 families affected by the floods in Selangor have received the RM1,000 cash aid under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme, as of yesterday.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on Twitter said the Selangor government has spent RM11.531 million to date for the purpose.

Amirudin also shared an infographic about the programme’s distributions summary alongside his tweet.

Based on the information stated, five families of flood victims who perished during the disaster have also received the cash aid of RM10,000 each.

The highest distributions were recorded in the Petaling district with 4,349 families followed by Hulu Langat (2,143 families) and Klang (1,866 families)

The cash aid have been also distributed to 1,115 families in Kuala Selangor, 904 in Sepang, Kuala Langat (705), Gombak (313), Hulu Selangor (51) and to 35 families in Sabak Bernam.

On December 21, the Selangor government allocated RM100 million in funds under the BSB programme, following the flood incident that hit eight districts in the state, at the end of last year.

Eligible recipients include flood victims who were relocated to the registered PPS, private PPS and those who remained at home.

Previously, Amirudin expected the disbursement of the cash aid will be completed by the end of January 2022.
