Over 23,000 flood victims receive cash aid from Selangor Zakat Board

SHAH ALAM, Jan 4 — More than 23,000 flood victims in Selangor have received aid from Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) Peduli programme as of January 13.

The agency through Facebook informed that it is still accepting applications for the programme opened on December 20 last year to alleviate the burden of flood victims in the state.

“We are still continuing with the application for the LZS Peduli programme to alleviate the burden of the major flood victims in Selangor. Your cooperation and patience are greatly appreciated,” said the agency.

On January 10, the agency informed that a total of 22,500 flood victims in the state have received aid under Phase One of the LZS Peduli programme between December 28 and 31.

Applications for Phase Two of the LZS Peduli flood aid begin on January 1 until 2pm, January 31 for flood victims who could not do so before.

Applications can be made online via www.zakatselangor.com.my/lzspeduli or for those who are not tech-savvy especially senior citizens, applications can be made manually by visiting the nearest LZS branch.

On December 20, LZS announced RM600 cash aid to the head of poor families, including those who are not categorised as asnaf, that were affected by the floods in Selangor, involving a zakat allocation of RM1 million.

A total of RM10,000 was also distributed to the district distribution operations chief as emergency assistance to flood victims apart from RM250,000 for donations of dried food and basic necessities to the temporary relief centres opened during the floods.
