PETALING JAYA, Jan 28 — The second edition of the Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) 2022 slated to be held from September 8 to 10 this year is expected to be more exciting.

State executive councillor for trade and investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said they planned to add more programmes, including aerial displays, to attract more visitors, especially industry players.

“We already have the experience from last year, so this time, we will redouble efforts to make SAS an event that can attract the interest of the public.

“Not only in terms of the number of exhibitors and visitors, but most likely we will hold an aerial demonstration and not just static (aircraft) display,” he told media after the Business Aviation & General Aviation (BAGA) Townhall session in Petaling Jaya yesterday.

Teng also expected more participation from countries such as Spain, China, the United Kingdom, Japan and Korea, in the event to be held at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre in Subang.

“Last year, eight countries were involved. This year, more countries will participate as we want more involvement,” he said.

The 2022 Selangor Budget (#Selangor2022) tabled by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has allocated RM5 million for SAS 2022.

SAS 2021, which runs from November 25 to 27 at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre in Subang, saw the participation of 43 exhibitors from local and international companies.

The total number of static aircraft displayed was 18, with the most prominent being the E195-E2 regional commercial jet from Embraer, T265 GOKBEY from Turkish Aerospace, Piaggio P-180 Avanti EVO from Piaggio Aerospace, and Airbus Helicopters AS350 Ecureuil, among others.

On top of that, 13 memorandums of understanding on various aerospace industry sub-sector collaborations were signed throughout the event.
