Tengku Amir Shah retains FAS presidency

KLANG, Jan 15 — Selangor Raja Muda Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah has been retained as Football Association of Selangor (FAS) president following the election of the association’s executive committee members for the 2022-2026 session here today.

Based on the results of the election at the 69th and 70th FAS Congress, Tengku Amir Shah will helm the association for the next five years, with Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar as deputy president.

Also, Datuk Abdul Rauf Ahmad; Datuk P. Sugumaran; Mohd Yunus @ Iskandar Md Noor and R. Sekar Chandaran were elected vice-presidents.

FAS election council member Anas Shafiee said during the announcement of the results that the association received 47 nomination forms, and accepted 46 of them while rejecting one due to its late submission.

“After evaluating the nominations, I would like to announce the number of candidates nominated for the positions…where all of those nominated have won uncontested,” he said.

Meanwhile, Tengku Amir Shah said in his closing speech at today’s congress that FAS would emphasise several aspects, including upgrading Selangor’s leagues from development and commercial aspects; junior and youth player development as well as development of coaches, referees and clubs.

“I hope we can continue to grow together. This change cannot be done alone. Continue supporting us and provide us feedback and reminders,” he added.
