Multiple roads closed around Batu Caves until Friday for Thaipusam

SHAH ALAM, Jan 17 — Seven roads around the Sri Subramaniar Swamy Temple in Batu Caves, are closed from yesterday until Friday (January 21) in conjunction with the Thaipusam celebration.

Gombak district police through Facebook informed the closure of the roads starting from 7pm (January 16) to 12 midnight (January 21) were to ensure a smooth flow of traffic for users.

A total of 318 police officers and personnel have been deployed to the affected roads for traffic control.

Meanwhile, Selangor Police Chief Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed during an inspection of the area around the temple hoped that the devotees and visitors would adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) and stay safe during the festival.

The following are the closed roads:

– Kampung Melayu Batu Caves traffic lights
– Route from MRR2 to Batu Caves temple
– Jalan Batu Caves Lama to the main entrance of Batu Caves temple
– Traffic lights junction in front of Batu Caves Shell Station
– Junction at Jalan SBC 8 / Jalan Lama Batu Caves
– MRR2 exit from Sri Gombak towards Jalan Perusahaan Batu Caves
– Jalan Perusahaan to Batu Caves temple
