SHAH ALAM, Jan 27 — Strong winds accompanied by heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Section 13 resulted in 10 vehicles damaged by falling trees and parking roofs, at around 5pm earlier this evening.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Director Norazam Khamis said the incidents occurred along Jalan Subang, near the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Polytechnic, and the parking lot of the Giant supermarket.

“Shah Alam department personnel along with fire engines were dispatched to the location of the first incident at Jalan Subang, and discovered two vehicles were crushed by falling trees.

“No injuries were reported, as the vehicles’ occupants managed to escape before the department arrived. Fire and Rescue are currently sawing the trees apart, necessitating the road’s closure to all vehicles,” he said in a statement.

Norazam added the second report was the roof collapse in the supermarket’s parking lot at Section 13.

“Based on preliminary information, eight vehicles belonging to the public which were parked in the area experienced damage. However, no injuries or victims have been reported thus far,” he said.
