SHAH ALAM, Feb 24 — Eight teams will compete in the 2022 Malaysia Volleyball League (MVL) organised by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) at the Dewan Bola Tampar, Section 4, here from March 8 to 13.

The council’s Corporate and Public Relations division head Shahrin Ahmad said the tournament organised with the Malaysian Volleyball Association (MAVA) involved participation from Selangor, Johor, Sarawak, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Fire and Rescue Department.

He said the initiative to produce active youths and introduce Shah Alam as a sports city will also see the participation of foreign players from each team.

“MBSA aims to use this tournament to identify new talents in volleyball as well as (for Shah Alam) to be featured in national and international sporting events,” he said in a statement yesterday.

He said the tournament offered a total prize of RM42,000 with the winner taking home RM20,000 in cash and medals.

He said the runner-up would receive RM10,000 in cash and medals while the third and fourth would receive RM8,000 and RM4,000 respectively with medals.
