Hulu Langat records 861 dengue cases, second highest in Selangor

SHAH ALAM, Feb 26 — Hulu Langat district recorded 861 dengue cases in the first seven weeks of this year marking an increase of 25.5 per cent from the same period last year.

Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) president said only 641 dengue cases were recorded in the district during the same period in 2021.

“In total, this year, Selangor recorded 3,313 cases but no deaths were reported.

“Hulu Langat is in second place with 861 cases after Petaling district which recorded 1,093 cases.

“Out of the 861 dengue cases, 672 cases were recorded in areas under the administration of MPKj,” he said during MPKj monthly meeting yesterday.

He said dengue cases within MPKj areas involved 43 localities with three hotspots detected, two in Kajang and one in the Semenyih constituencies.

During the tabling of the 2002 Selangor Budget in November last year, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari informed that RM5 million was allocated to prevent and control dengue in the state.

It includes methods of exploring new technologies such as using drones to detect outbreak locations in addition to developing smartphone applications.
