Kampung Tunku rep helps homeless man, finds new home

SHAH ALAM, Feb 24 — A homeless and sick senior citizen received help from Kampung Tunku state assemblyman Lim Yi Wei recently.

In a Facebook post, she said the man only known as ‘Uncle’ was found outside a laundromat in SS2 Petaling Jaya.

“My officer contacted the Welfare Department to join us in meeting the homeless man.

“We discovered he had nerve damage to his legs, rendering his movements jerky and unstable,” Lim said, adding that he also uses a stick to walk.

She said as a precaution, they took him for Covid-19 tests before checking him into a budget hotel and provided meals every day.

Once the screening came out negative, the homeless man was taken for more tests on his blood and urine.

“I think Uncle is very lucky as his medical reports were fairly clear.

“So we took him to get his Covid-19 vaccine booster shot at the Paradigm Mall vaccination centre,” Lim said.

She added her office took the senior citizen to the Sungai Way Old Folks Home on Tuesday.

“We took him there, to a place where he can be better cared for. The home also taught him to use a walker which is steadier than his stick.

“Walking with Uncle reminds me of walking with my late grandparents.

“May Uncle have a better life here, under the kindness and care of Sungai Way folk,” she said in a TikTok video attached with the post.
