Nearly 14,000 flood victims in Klang receive BSB cash aid

KLANG, Feb 24 — Another 13,997 flood victims in Klang have received RM1,000 in cash aid under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) initiative at five locations yesterday, bringing the total to 46,554 recipients so far.

The aid was distributed at Dewan Serbaguna Klang District and Land Office, Dewan MBSA Kemuning Utama, Dewan Seri Kerayong, Kompleks Sukan Pandamaran, and Dewan TNB Kapar.

Klang district officer Mohd Faizal Abdul Raji said the distribution to another 24,429 applicants is expected to conclude this Friday as announced by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

“InsyaAllah (God willing) we have already targeted the distribution of the BSB cash aid to be completed this week, along with the Bantuan Wang Ihsan (BWI) flood assistance from the Federal government.

“Officers from Shah Alam City Council, Subang Jaya City Council and Klang Municipal Council also came to assist in the distribution process at each location,” he said when met here.

Mohd Faizal said applicants who could not attend to receive the aid at the given slots, can ask their family members to represent them with a copy of their identity card.

Meanwhile, according to a Utusan Malaysia report, the number of missing names among the list of state and Federal flood aid applicants was relatively minor and has been resolved.

Mohd Faizal said the problem was swiftly dealt with after he received a complaint from an applicant.

“We have asked the applicant to take picture of the application forms that were stamped.

“If an applicant believes their application has gone missing, they can submit a complaint with a photo of their filled forms so that we can check or file a new application for them if necessary,” he said.

Mohd Faizal said this after inspecting the BSB and BWI distribution process at Dewan MBSA Kemuning Utama in Shah Alam yesterday.

Previously, Amirudin apologised for the delay in BSB’s distribution, due to overlapping applications which require a thorough vetting process.

Subsequently, the state government mobilised additional personnel to Klang’s and Petaling’s Land and District Office, in order to expedite the distribution process.

As of February 21, a total of 72,451 households have benefited from BSB involving an expenditure of more than RM72 million, including RM130,000 given to the next-of-kin of 13 flood victims who perished in the disaster.
