Nearly 55,000 flood-affected families receive RM1,000 aid

SHAH ALAM, Feb 2 — A total of 54,911 families affected by the floods in Selangor have received the RM1,000 cash aid under the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit (BSB) programme, as of 10am today.

In a Facebook post, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said approximately RM55.041 million has been allocated for the programme so far.

Amirudin also shared an infographic about the programme’s distributions summary alongside his post.

Based on the information stated, thirteen families of flood victims who perished during the disaster also received RM10,000 in cash aid each.

The Klang district recorded the highest number of recipients with 13,970 families, followed by Petaling (13,520 families) and Kuala Langat with 8,042 families.

The cash aid was also distributed to 7,780 families in Hulu Langat, 6,273 in Sepang, Kuala Selangor (4,299), Gombak (893), Hulu Selangor (94) and 40 families in Sabak Bernam.

On December 21 last year, the state government allocated RM100 million in funds under the BSB programme, following the severe floods that affected eight districts in the state.

Eligible recipients include flood victims who were relocated to registered PPS, private PPS, and those who chose to remain with their homes.
