SHAH ALAM, Feb 23 — The Hijrah Selangor Foundation (Hijrah) has spent RM6.78 million to fund the Niaga Darul Ehsan Scheme (NaDI) from February 2 until yesterday.

Its promotion manager Mohd Ridhwan Asmara said the amount has benefited 1,637 women entrepreneurs in Selangor, who each obtained funding for their businesses between RM1,000 to RM5,000.

“The reception (for the aid) has been very stimulating, indeed since January 1 this year 117 people have benefited from this, with a total value of RM522,000.

“Most of them are involved in the businesses of food, supply, services, agriculture, processing, and livestock breeding,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini today.

Mohd Ridhwan added the scheme application process is quick and easy, in addition to applicants not having to attend weekly meetings, unlike similar microcredit programmes.

“We believe the scheme will help women to create new income streams for their families and themselves, in addition to helping the household financially,” he said.

Via the Kita Selangor Package, the state government has allocated an initial RM10 million to aid traders in obtaining a loan plan of RM1,000 to RM5,000, as well as choosing between a funding period of six months to three years.

Open to women and all races, interested individuals can apply at www.hijrahselangor.com or contact the financing officer at Hijrah Selangor’s 20 branches.
