PETALING JAYA, Feb 9 — The Selangor government will continue to play an active role in providing the best business and investment environment.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the effort is to support the state’s economic recovery after going through a challenging period following the Covid-19 pandemic and the recent disaster.
“According to the World Bank Group in 2020, Malaysia is ranked 12th in the Ease of Doing Business Index. So, I believe Selangor can offer the best and most conducive environment for businesses to operate in the state.
“I am also confident that with the current efforts, Selangor will continue to be a stable and prosperous destination for everyone as well as battle-ready to deal with any economic crisis in the future,” he said.
He said this in his speech at the state-level Chinese New Year dinner at the Sheraton Hotel near here last night.
Also present were state executive councillor for investment Dato’ Teng Chang Khim and Invest Selangor Berhad chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said a total of 182 investment projects were approved by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in Selangor during the first nine months of 2021, which is the highest in the country.
He explained that the projects provided 12,226 job opportunities, which is the largest compared to other states.
“With these continuous business activities and inflows of investment, Selangor will definitely continue to attract skilled and semi-skilled professionals to make Selangor their home.
“Selangor is also able to offer various languages and ethnicities, which is one of the state’s main competitive advantages in human capital, especially to new foreign investors and multinational companies,” he said.
