SHAH ALAM, Feb 4 — The total zakat collection in Selangor has reached RM992 million in 2021, an increase of RM79 million from the previous year, said Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof.

He said the distribution of zakat money by the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has also increased by RM52 million to RM919 million last year.

“We aim for LZS to collect RM1 billion this year after the excellent service it showed last year,” he said in his Mais Chairman Message recently.

Abdul Aziz also congratulated the agency for winning the international award as The Best Company in Asia 2021.

He said the world recognition is proof of LZS’s excellence as an agency under Mais and should be emulated by others in increasing their performances.

“Insya Allah (God willing) with the success, I am confident that LZS will be able to achieve better targets this year,” he added.
