SHAH ALAM, Feb 4 — The 2022 Selangor Chinese New Year virtual celebration on Tuesday received an overwhelming response when it recorded nearly 100,000 views.
Selangor Buddhist and Taoist special committee chairman Dato’ Teng Chang Khim said the show had attracted local as well as international viewers from Singapura, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand and Brunei.
“Thank you to those who watched. We hope this video will be shared on their respective social media sites so that more people can watch the interesting performances,” he told SelangorKini.
He said the list of winners of the ang pows with a grand total of RM10,000 was announced on Wednesday via Facebook and advised them to fill up their details at the website listed before Sunday.
“Winners will receive their ang pows worth between RM38 and RM288 starting from next Monday till Wednesday,” he said.
The more than 90-minutes programme showcased 10 performances that include singing, dancing and cultural performances, performed by 55 local artists from three-generation, that cost RM500,000.
Similar to last year’s edition, this year’s Selangor CNY celebration was held online due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Among the performances are:
1. Classical Festive Songs by Chow Kam Leong, Chang Sang Teck (Kumpulan Dua Sekawan) and Lee Elaine
2. Lion Dance by the Hong Jing Lion Dance Association of Selangor
3. Dance Performance by Dua Space Dance Theatre
4. Acapella Performance of Festive Songs by Colour of Voices
5. Guzheng (plucked zither) Performance by Sara Heng.
6. Chinese Drums Performance by Hands Percussion
7. Electronic Guzheng and LED Diabolo Performance by Sara Heng and the DiAbolution group
8. Performance by Lim Wen Sue
9. Performance by Gaston Pong & JE Pong
10. Gong Xi Gong Xi – Selangor Exco
