Selhac: Avoid congestion, attending visitors to follow zones

SHAH ALAM, Feb 28 — The attendance of the public at the Selangor International Halal Conference (Selhac) at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) will be implemented in zones, to prevent overcrowding at the location.

State executive councillor for halal industries Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni said the first day of the programme on March 4 is specially reserved for visitors from the central zone, including Klang, Petaling and Gombak, while the second day is for visitors from the southern zone, which are Sepang, Hulu Langat and Kuala Langat.

Visitors from the northern zone, which include Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor, will be on the final day of the conference.

“We proposed this to Halal International Selangor (HIS), emphasising the question of safety throughout the programme by scheduling it as such, so as to avoid infection (from Covid-19).

“Visitors are also required to have completed two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, as well as constantly maintaining the standard operating procedures. We will place personnel on duty to monitor their movements,” he said.

Mohd Zawawi added that preparations for the three-day event have since reached 90 per cent, and almost all exhibitors have installed their respective exhibitions.

“Preparations are now in the final stage, and all parties are endeavouring to give the best touch, so the set objectives can be achieved,” he said.

80 companies and government agencies in the sectors of food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, beauty and self-care, hospitality and tourism, and fashion have booked 131 exhibition sites.

“We hope the programme will help entrepreneurs to market their products to users, as well as build their business network with industry players,” Mohd Zawawi said.

Running from 10am to 9.30pm, Selhac involves three components encompassing forums, expos, and business matching.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is expected to officiate the conference on March 4.

The public is invited to attend, so they can obtain various information on the halal industry.
