Exchange unused parking coupons starting this Saturday — Exco

By Alang Bendahara

SHAH ALAM, March 24 — Individuals who purchased the scratch-and-display parking coupons from all local councils in Selangor can exchange the unused coupons starting on March 26.

State executive councillor for local government and public transport Ng Sze Han said this is to address the public’s concerns following the decision to fully implement digital parking across the state on April 1.

“The Selangor government acknowledges the people’s worries that their unused coupons would be rendered invalid due to this migration.

“We can assure the amounts of unutilised and unexpired coupons are safe and transferrable into users’ Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) accounts,” he said in a statement issued today.

To do the exchange, Ng said individuals are first required to download the SSP app from the Google Play Store, Apple App Store or Huawei Store, and register themselves.

Users then have to bring their paper-based coupons to the exchange programmes that will be organised by SSDU Innovations Sdn Bhd (SSDU).

The date, venue and operating hours of these exchange programmes are as follows:

  • March 26 to March 28  — Dewan Serbaguna MBSJ SS15 (10am to 5pm)
  • April 2 to April 3  — Dewan Sivik MBPJ (10am to 4pm)
  • April 9 to April 10 — Dewan Jenjarum MBSA Seksyen 11 (10am to 4pm)

Ng said the programmes will accept all unused paper coupons issued by different local councils in the state.

Those who missed it can exchange the coupons at Innovative Technologies & Systems Sdn Bhd’s (LITS) office at F-4-G, Jalan Multimedia 7/AG, i-City, Section 7 Shah Alam.

“Additionally, from April 1 to April 30, paper coupons can also be exchanged at users’
respective local council office. However local councils can only process coupons belonging to them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ng said 263 KK Super Mart outlets have been appointed as SSP eKupon agents where they can accept parking and reload payments through the SSP app.

He added that road users who do not have smartphones may use the SSP eKupon agents service at KK Super Marts, ParcelHub and other convenience shops displaying the SSP eKupon stickers.

The SSP was first introduced in 2018 by the state government to integrate all parking payments from different municipalities from a decentralised paper-based coupon system into a centralised digital application for the user’s convenience.

The SSP app has saved an estimated 1,041,221 kg of papers since its introduction with 1,963,241 registered SSP app users to date.
