MB: Selangor channels over RM10 mln to aid flood-affected traders

SHAH ALAM, March 21 — The state government has provided over RM10 million in aid since January to traders and entrepreneurs affected by the recent floods, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the aid encompasses Hijrah Selangor loan offers to repair their businesses following the disaster last year.

“Most of the borrowers own stalls, grocers and car workshops who wish to improve their businesses post-flood. There have been no grants but help in the aid of loans,” Amirudin said.

The Menteri Besar was responding to a query from Kampung Tunku state assemblyman Lim Yi Wei on the allocation amount and type of assistance for traders following the floods, during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session earlier today.

Referring to the implementation of the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit initiative, Amirudin said he is confident the distribution of the cash aid via the Land and District Offices to flood victims will be finished by the end of this month, in stages.

“The latest figure for channeled aid is RM108 million, with another 8,000 families set to benefit from it. This means we need another RM8 million to channel to them, which I am certain will be done by March 31,” he said.
