SHAH ALAM, March 16 — State-owned entity Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) is expected to allocate between RM17 million to RM18 million for its corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund this year, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said MBI did not set any fixed amount for its CSR programmes as it varies depending on the company’s revenue.

“The fund depend on MBI’s revenues and projection as we also must take into account the need for other infrastructure projects.

“Normally, the fund will be channelled to fixed programmes such as ‘Program Lembu Korban’, ‘Program Mahabbah Haji’ and the Selangor People’s Tutoring Programme (PTRS).

“From what I have witnessed before, MBI’s maximum fund is RM26 million,” Amirudin said when responding a supplementary query from Sementa state assemblyman Dr Daroyah Alwi on MBI’s grant criteria, during the Selangor State Legislative Assembly today.

The Menteri Besar said MBI’s CSR exercise will focus on two main assistance initiatives, namely the MBI CSR Fund and MBI Wakalah Zakat.

Amirudin said there are six criterias that have been set in order to be eligible for these assistance programmes.

“The criteria includes assistance for education programmes, the development of Islamic laws and the sanctity of Islam, community development, disasters, non-Muslim festive celebration as well as sports and environment,” he added.
