MBSJ adds three more rescue boats for flood preparedness

SHAH ALAM, March 15 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has added three rescue boats to be used by its Special Action Squad (Pantas) in anticipation of the flood season.

Its Corporate and Strategic Management Department deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said the additional assets would help the squad in providing early assistance in the event of flooding occurring in different areas simultaneously.

“We hope that this would assist the squad in providing initial assistance in cases of emergencies and disasters before the arrival of other security agencies,” he said in a statement.

Azfarizal said MBSJ would also increase surveillance, especially in flood-prone areas, and ensure drainage maintenance is carried out periodically to avoid the risk of flash floods or flooding.

“The public is also advised to be alert of the weather condition and be prepared in the event of heavy rain that could lead to flash floods or landslides,” the statement read.
