KUALA LUMPUR, March 19 — The Selangor state government, through Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (Sidec), will launch the Selangor Digital School (SDS) in collaboration with The Hive SEA and Universiti Selangor (Unisel) to overcome the lack of digital talent.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the digital economy sector needed about 1.5 million digital talents but currently, the market has about 50 per cent of talent and skills in the digital economy sector.
“With the establishment of this SDS educational institution, courses related to digitalisation that are relevant and meet the needs of the digital job market can be offered at a reasonable price and get approval from the institution of higher learning.
“It is hoped that through SDS, more talents and skilled workers in the digital field can be born to reduce the job market gap in the digital economy,” he said at the launch of Selangor Digital Entrepreneur Tour 2022 today.
Amirudin said he hoped that more small and medium industry players or students, graduates and the local community would be exposed to the advantages of e-commerce and digitalisation through programmes such as the Selangor Digital Entrepreneur Tour.
“To all participants, use today’s opportunity to gain useful knowledge from digital and e-commerce industry experts who participated in this roadshow to improve your skills.
“I hope more SME businesses, especially in second-tier cities or semi-urban areas, can digitise their businesses,” he added.
