Selangor Zakat Board provides food aid to flood victims in Hulu Langat

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, March 10 — The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) has handed over food baskets to 48 flood-affected families in Kampung Sungai Serai, Hulu Langat here.

The agency said the assistance was handed over yesterday to victims at the temporary relief centre in Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Serai and those at their respective homes.

“The residents of Kampung Sungai Serai could barely take a breather after last year’s flood, and now, they are tested again with another flood.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), LZS managed to immediately donate the zakat collection and help ease their burdens after being hit by flood for the second time within six months,” LZS said on Facebook today.

In December last year, LZS announced RM600 cash aid to the head of poor families, including those who are not categorised as asnaf, that were affected by the floods in Selangor, involving a zakat allocation of RM1 million.

A total of RM10,000 was also distributed to the district distribution operations chief as emergency assistance to flood victims apart from RM250,000 for donations of dried food and basic necessities to the temporary relief centres opened during the floods.
