SHAH ALAM, March 6 — The Selangor International Halal Conference (Selhac) 2022 is set to record transactions worth RM20 million, said state executive councillor for halal industry Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni.

He said the amount is sure to bring a major impact on the efforts to expand the sector in the state.

“Over 40 entrepreneurs have been matched in Selhac, and they have been discussing business deals that are sure to produce transaction values.

“So the projected transaction value at the early stage may reach between RM10 to RM20 million, or even more,” Mohd Zawawi told reporters after officiating Selhac at the Shah Alam Convention Centre yesterday.

The business matching between three components is the main focus in the inaugural conference organised by the state government in cooperation with Halal International Selangor (HIS) and Dewan Perdagangan Islam Malaysia (DPIM) Selangor.

The three-day programme began on Friday (March 4) until today, featuring forums, expos, and business matchings.

Some 100 exhibitors from 40 domestic and international companies will participate in the event, with six clusters including food and beverage, health and pharmaceuticals, beauty and self-care, hospitalisation and tourism, and modest fashion and ingredients.
