SHAH ALAM, March 9 — Selangor assemblymen involved in the Johor election campaign have been asked to take care of their health so they can attend the upcoming State Legislative Assembly sitting on Monday (March 14).

Its speaker Ng Suee Lim said the reminder is to ensure they are free from Covid-19 infection and able to participate in the debate which is scheduled for two weeks until March 25.

“To all assemblymen who are campaigning in Johor, I urge them to take precautions because we do not want an infection to occur that will prevent them from attending the sitting.

“Other individuals, including government officials and media practitioners, are also asked to protect themselves and ensure their health is in good condition,” he said when contacted.

Ng said those participating in the sitting are required to undergo early screening, adding the ceremonial custom of the guard-of-honour inspection and luncheon during the opening of the assembly have been cancelled.

Previously, the media had reported that all assemblymen may be required to undergo a daily Covid-19 test throughout the asssembly if the number of infections increases.

According to Ng, the daily screening which uses the Antigen rapid test kit (RTK) also applies to state officials and media practitioners who are on duty during the assembly.
