KUALA SELANGOR, March 2 — Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia (YFBM) has prepared RM250,000 to be channelled to various types of aid for flood victims in Selangor.
Its chief operations officer Johan Halid said the post-flood contributions are in the form of food baskets, electric appliances, kitchen appliances, and daily necessities.
He added the aid is distributed to victims in the worst-stricken areas, including Taman Seri Muda and Kampung Bukit Lanchong in Shah Alam, Kampung Tengah in Puchong, and in Hulu Langat.
“Today we will allocated RM50,000 to assist 100 victims living in Kampung Bukit Hijau and Kampung Parit Mahang.
“This aid will be continued into the future, so as to lighten the burden of victims,” Johan said during the aid handover ceremony at Masjid Al Falah in Kampung Bukit Hijau earlier today.
The Princess of Selangor, Her Highness Tengku Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who is also YFBM’s chairman of the board of trustees, was also present.
The extraordinary rainfall from December 17 to December 19 last year was double the previous recorded high of 180mm, which resulted in many locations statewide becoming submerged in water.
Following this, the state government prepared a RM100 million allocation for the Bantuan Selangor Bangkit initiative, which is aimed at restoring infrastructure as well as financial aid for households affected by the floods, and for the next-of-kin of victims who perished in the disaster.
