Zul Ariffin investigated over posting of steamy scene teaser

KUALA LUMPUR, March 22 — Actor Zul Ariffin will be investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 after putting out an Instagram post that infringed the law.

Minister of Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa in a tweet said the scene in the viral post is not allowed for public viewing.

“The process of law is ongoing. What is certain is that the scene which was displayed is not allowed for viewing whether during Ramadan or any other month. Take care of our values and culture,” he said

Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 refers to the improper use of network facilities or services that provides for a fine not exceeding RM50,000 or jail not more than one year or both as well as a fine of RM1,000 for each day the offence continues to be committed after conviction.

The actor got into controversy after uploading a video containing a teaser scene from the drama ‘Perempuan itu’ before deleting the post and apologising on social media.
