SHAH ALAM, April 1 — A pig farm at Tanjung Sepat in Kuala Langat was raided by the authorities yesterday after it was discovered the farm had made an illegal water pipe connection, said the National Water Services Commission (SPAN)
The agency said the high-density polyethylene water pipe was detected during an integrated operation conducted by SPAN’s Enforcement Division and Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd.
“We have issued a Notice of Offense and taken the action to cut off the illegal water supply as well.
“In addition, Air Selangor has also moved the (water) meter to prevent the reconnection of this illegal water supply from recurring again,” SPAN said in a Facebook post.
It added that stern and uncompromising action will be taken against any parties who are suspected of making water connections that violate the law.
“The case is being investigated under Section 123 (1) of the Water Services Industry Act 2006 (Act 655) Those found guilty are liable to a fine not exceeding RM100,000, imprisonment not exceeding a year or both,” said the agency.
The public has been asked to inform water operators of any suspicious activities related to the theft of clean water supply, which includes making illegal water supply connections.
