Aidilfitri: Plus links up with Astro Radio, Celcom, Motac to beam traffic info

KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 — Plus Malaysia Berhad (Plus) is collaborating with Astro Radio, Celcom and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (Motac) to ensure accurate dissemination of the latest traffic information to its two million highway users between April 29 and May 9 during the Aidilfitri celebration.

Plus managing director Datuk Azman Ismail said the collaboration was important as Plus messages were channelled to the public through radio and social media as highway customers needed the latest information to make decisions and plan their journeys.

“The need to communicate continuously and widely is crucial to mentally prepare travellers and to manage expectations. They must expect a longer journey, where the travel time may double.

“Thus, in managing the traffic surge this festive season, we were approached by three likeminded partners with one single intention to collaborate, and that is to provide the latest traffic information and travel advisories to all Plus highway customers via each partner’s extensive channels,” he said in a statement last night.

He said drivers could get the latest traffic reports from time to time on the air via ERA, SINAR, ZAYAN, Hitz FM, Mix FM and Lite FM or through the SYOK app, as well as reports from social media pages from all 11 popular radio stations from Astro Radio.

In addition, Celcom has also stationed mobile transmitters at the Tapah and Juru toll plazas and some rest areas to provide wider and more stable coverage at key locations.

According to him, with more than two million highway users on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, a timely collaboration with Motac helps to sustain the domestic tourism ecosystem.

Apart from this collaboration, the latest Plus traffic information is also channelled through electronic signages along the highway, via PlusTrafik on Twitter, and the Plus Application which enables customers to view the latest traffic situation on the highway through CCTV displays

“Plus would like to thank Astro Radio, Celcom and Motac for supporting us in our efforts to take good care of highway customers throughout this festive season. We appreciate their sincerity and help in the true spirit of Kita Jaga Kita,” he said.
