KUANTAN, April 28 — The concessionaire of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway (KLK) and the East Coast Expressway Phase 1 (LPT1), Anih Berhad, expects an increase in traffic volume on both expressways from tomorrow (April 29) to May 8 in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.
Anih Berhad senior general manager, Radzimah Mohd Radzi, said during the period, the company expected an increase of 207,500 vehicles per day on the KLK Highway and 100,000 vehicles per day on LPT1.
She added that every weekend since the start of Ramadan, the KLK Highway recorded a total of 145,231 vehicles, while the total traffic using LPT1 was at 45,600 vehicles.
“Anih Berhad has intensified its efforts to ensure that all highway facilities, including the rest and recreation (R&R) areas, are in the best condition.
“Anih Berhad is actively increasing the workforce capacity to provide the best services to ensure congestion during the festive season can be reduced,” she said in a statement here today.
Among the steps taken were increasing the number of toll booth attendants, and toll lanes from 100 to 151 lanes, distributing travel time advisory, raising the LPT Ronda (highway patrol unit) patrol frequency, improving response time on the highways as well as activating the contra lanes in the event of an accident.
Anih Berhad also reminded road users to tap the Touch n’Go card on the scanner at the toll booth for verification purposes and exit the highway within the stipulated period to enjoy that toll exemption as announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Radzimah said for a period of three days beginning April 30, those travelling to Pahang are advised to enter the highway from 10 am to 2 pm, or 8 pm to 11 pm, while motorists heading towards Terengganu and Kelantan may enter between 6am and 10am, or 5pm and 8pm.
Meanwhile, those travelling from Pahang on May 7 and 8 are advised to enter the highway from 6 am to 10 pm, and 7 pm to 10 pm, Terengganu (8 am to 11 am, or 8 pm to 10 pm), and Kelantan (6 pm to 8 pm or 10 pm to midnight).
