SHAH ALAM, April 28 — Single mothers, women from the B40 income group and daycare operators are invited to join the higher education institution courses offered by the Selangor Workers’ Empowerment Unit (UPPS)
State executive councillor for employee empowerment V Ganabatirau said the course will encompass midwifery, beauty, management and caring for elderly persons as well as corporate social responsibility programmes.
He added the inaugural initiative is done in cooperation with several organisations including Vandy Confinement Sdn Bhd, B Beaute Elegant Sdn Bhd, Senior Care Academy Sdn Bhd and Akademi J&W Sdn Bhd.
“We aim to ensure these groups can develop and innovate in the related fields as well as obtain university professional diplomas.
“The related courses can also increase job opportunities for the participants once they finish their courses in addition to retaining talent and creating more new entrepreneurs,” Ganabatirau said.
The fees for all courses are RM24,000 which is fully borne by the sponsor while the registration fees are between RM2,500 to RM3,500 depending on the course.
Participants must follow hybrid classes for two and a half years before being awarded the relevant certificate.
The councillor said struggling parents are invited to register their children aged five to 12 in the Artzland Studio control arts education programme.
“The year-long programme is an opportunity for children to participate in art exhibitions,
publishing works in art books as well as learning various art methods.
“The first 100 registrations will be fully sponsored,” Ganabatirau said during the media conference at the Ideal Convention Centre earlier today.
