Five Selangor districts to experience thunderstorms this evening

SHAH ALAM, April 3 — Five districts in Selangor are expected to undergo thunderstorms this evening until 6pm, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 2.40pm on Facebook, MetMalaysia said the districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat dan Sepang.

The agency had also issued warnings of similar weather condition in other areas including Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, in other states that would experience similar bad weather include Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar and Bagan Datuk), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Bera and Pekan), Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban and Jempol) , Johor (Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru), Sarawak: Miri (Miri and Marudi) and Limbang as well as Sabah in Pedalaman, Pantai Barat, Tawau.

MetMalaysia would issue warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours.
