Hijrah Selangor offers capital loans for entrepreneurs to widen their businesses

SHAH ALAM, April 17 — The Selangor Hijrah Foundation does not only offer capital loans to start businesses but also helps entrepreneurs to widen their product market.

Its executive director Datuk Seri Mohamad Suparadi Md Noor said various initiatives have been carried out by the foundation to ensure its members’ products are successfully marketed as well as to make Selangor an entrepreneurial state.

“However all of this requires cooperation from various parties. The close relationship between Hijrah and other agencies like local authorities will make business management easier.

“It is pointless if we only provide loans but the entrepreneur’s products are not developed. We set a direction in order to better help them,” he said during Hijrah Selangor’s 2022 corporate management breaking-fast ceremony at Kelab Shah Alam in Section 13 earlier this evening.

Also in attendance during the fast-breaking was state executive councillor for entrepreneur development Rodziah Ismail and Kota Anggerik state assemblyman Najwan Halimi

Earlier in February, Mohamad Suparadi said up to 58,000 entrepreneurs have expanded their businesses since Hijrah was founded seven years ago.

At its inception, the state government implemented the Micro-Credit Scheme with a working capital of RM100 million to empower the low and middle-income groups.

The initiative to help entrepreneurs was further improved with the Zero To Hero programme that upholds the concept of training and monitoring its participants under the aegis of selected leading companies.

On February 10 last year, the state government launched the Niaga Darul Ehsan Scheme (NaDI) to aid individuals who are just starting out their businesses with loan offers of between RM1,000 to RM5,000.

The Go Digital initiative was also launched to help existing entrepreneurs move towards digitalisation via loans to purchase telecommunications equipment.
