Hulu Langat to undergo thunderstorms, heavy rain this evening

SHAH ALAM, April 23 — Hulu Langat district is expected to undergo thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 8pm today, says the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

In a warning issued at 4.45pm, the agency said similar weather conditions are also forecasted in Kedah (Padang Terap, Sik and Baling), Perak (Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar and Batang Padang), Kelantan (Jeli and Gua Musang), Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu) and Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Kuantan, Bera, Pekan and Rompin).

Meanwhile, other states and territories which will also see inclement weather include Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor (Tangkak, Segamat and Kluang), Sarawak (Kuching, Sibu and Mukah) as well as Sabah (Sandakan and Kudat).

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
