SHAH ALAM, April 20 — The number of dengue cases in Subang Jaya has increased by over 200 compared to last year for the period of January to April 9.
Mayor Datuk Johary Anuar said the increase is worrying even though Subang Jaya has the lowest number of cases in the Petaling district compared to Shah Alam and Petaling Jaya.
“Up to the Epidemiological Week 14 (April 9, 2022) there have been 826 reported cases of dengue fever compared to 581 cases for the same time period last year.
“There are three dengue hotspots that have been identified, including SS19/1, USJ 2/5 dan Taman Pinggiran USJ 1,” he said following the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) full meeting at its headquarters earlier today.
Johary added the council is conducting monitoring and cleaning every day to ensure the number of cases can be reduced.
“Based on the monitoring of localities with dengue fever cases, it has been determined there are many breeding areas in back alleys and as such we have conducted special operations to clean them up.
“We call upon residents to spend 10 minutes of their time to examine their homes and prevent water from collecting in areas which could lead to mosquitoes breeding,” he said.
