JobCare fair helps over 100 individuals secure jobs

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, April 8 — A total of 120 out of 700 job seekers who had participated in the JobCare roadshow in three districts in Selangor had secured jobs in several sectors.

State executive councillor for socio-economic development V Ganabatirau said some 80 individuals were offered a second interview session at the job fairs held in Klang, Hulu Selangor and Petaling from February 25 to March 26.

“Most of them are from the low-income group and were offered jobs in the manufacturing sector and had started work,” he said after the Jalinan Ukhuwah programme at Mardhiyyah Hotel here, yesterday.

Ganabatirau said the Selangor Workers’ Empowerment Unit (UPPS) initiative, in cooperation with the Social Security Organisation (Socso), provides opportunities for individuals who lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic gain new sources of income.

“We hope that the job seekers would be able to benefit from the other roadshow series that will be continued from May until June.

“We are expecting to see up to 250 individuals to take part in each of the series based on the response we received in the previous three roadshows,” he said.

The JobCare roadshows offer 3,000 employment opportunities from 15 participating companies in various sectors.
