SHAH ALAM, April 13 — Up to 500 Selangor tourism packages worth RM56,687 were sold during the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair last weekend.

Three locations saw considerable reception, including the Sky Mirror in Kuala Selangor, Windlab Indoor Skydiving in Petaling Jaya and WetWorld Shah Alam, said Tourism Selangor chief executive officer Azrul Shah Mohamad.

“We are also expecting an increase of domestic tourists to the state with sales proceeds through exhibitions held this month including in September.

“As a tourism body, we will take the opportunity to further boost promotion via the participation and organization of a series of domestic tours throughout this year,” he said.

Azrul Shah added other promotions encompass Jelajah Pusing Selangor Dulu in the states of Johor, Kedah and Sabah, the Selangor International Photography Festival and the Pusing Selangor Dulu Higher Learning Public Institutions Squad.

Meanwhile, over 20,000 visitors visited the Pavilion Tourism Selangor throughout the two-day exhibition held at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

“Even though the country has moved to the endemic phase, organisers are still following the standard operating procedures. They were also exposed to ecotourism as well as new and existing products,” he said.
