MB: Grassroot leaders play an important role in the success of Selangor govt

SHAH ALAM, April 16 — Grassroot leaders play an important role as their performance is the yardstick to gauge the success of the state government, says Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said community leaders who carried out their duty well to the people could help retain a government.

“As grassroots leaders, we have to ensure the stability and prosperity in our areas are maintained properly. This is an important lesson that we have learned from various crises before this such as health crises and disasters.

“The main duty for leaders at times of crisis is to ensure the people still have confidence in us (the state government). How to ensure this? We need to manage the situation properly as the duty of a leader is to ensure a calm and peaceful situation,” he said during the Breaking Fast with Community Leaders event at Selangor State Secretariat Building, here yesterday.

Amirudin added that after the crises are under control, the people would have more confidence and trust in their current leaders.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was present during the event which celebrated 700 community leaders including heads of villages and council members.
