MB requests PAAB, Air Selangor to channel information on water cuts in Taman Keramat

By Norrasyidah Arshad

SHAH ALAM, April 18 — The unscheduled water supply disruption in Taman Keramat, Hulu Klang last week was due to the pipe-laying works for the Langat 2 Water Treatment Plant (WTP) project.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the work was handled by a contractor from the Federal government agency Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) and not under the state government-owned Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor).

“However, I admit that the installation of the pipes is necessary to ensure smooth water supply distribution for Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.

“Today, I will ask PAAB and Air Selangor to provide information on the project duration and the water supply disruption schedule to the affected residents so that they are better prepared,” he said today.

Amirudin posted this reply in the comment section of Facebook user Shazril Ezani who sought an explanation for the frequent water supply disruption in his residential area.

Construction of Langat 2 WTP began in March 2014 involving areas of Hulu Langat, Cheras, Sungai Besi, Bukit Jalil, Petaling, Bandar Kinrara, Bukit Dengkil, Ampang and Keramat AU3.

As of February, the project has achieved almost 90 per cent progress and is expected to be completed by the end of next year.
