SHAH ALAM, April 13 — Some 53,000 scratch-and-display parking coupons under the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) have been converted to e-coupons as of yesterday.
In a report by Sinar Harian, Shah Alam mayor Datuk Zamani Ahmad Mansor said the exchange through the Smart Selangor Parking mobile application (SSP app) involved RM35,000 worth of transactions.
“So far, we have yet to receive any complaints from the public, and it is well-received (the move to implement e-coupons) by the people who use parking spots provided within Shah Alam.
“We had only received inquiries relating to exchanging old parking coupons for e-coupons,” he said.
Zamani, however, said some residents still use the scratch-and-display parking coupons to pay for their parking.
Beginning April 1, parking payment in Selangor had gone fully digital via the SSP app.
The app is available via the Google Play Store, Apple AppStore and Huawei Store.
On March 24, state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said scratch-and-display parking coupon holders must register as SSP users to transfer the value of the coupons into the app from March 26.
He said this was taking into account the concerns of those who would have excess unused parking coupons following the enforcement of the digital parking system.
