MBSA’s green initiative wins landscape architectural recognition

SHAH ALAM, April 12 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has won the Malaysian Landscape Architect Award under the Government Agency (Green Initiative Award) from the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM).

Its Corporate and Public Relation Department head Shahrin Ahmad said the award was received by MBSA’s Landscape Department during the Green Shah Alam Pioneer programme held on March 25 in Georgetown, Penang.

He added the award, in the form of a trophy and certificate of appreciation, was presented by National Landscape Department Director General Rotina Mohd Daik to Shah Alam mayor Datuk Zamani Ahmad Mansor and MBSA Landscape Department director Mohd Yunus Suri.

“The Green Shah Alam Pioneer programme is an educational initiative which has been implemented since 2009 until now and is aimed at exposing Standard Four and Standard Five students to the importance of the environment, plants and public parks to human lives.

“Through this project, contestants can sharpen their creativity by creating concepts and designs to build a unique and interesting tabletop mini-garden,” he said in a statement today.
