MBSJ provides three inclusive playgrounds for OKU children

SUBANG JAYA, April 22 — The Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) has provided three inclusive playgrounds specifically for children who are persons with disabilities (OKU).

Its mayor Datuk Johary Anuar said the playgrounds were built at Taman Awam USJ 11/5, Jalan PP 22 Pinggiran Putra and Jalan Tempua 9, Puchong Jaya involving a total cost of RM180,000.

“This is MBSJ’s first inclusive playground and we chose a spacious public park because it needs more space, so that children, especially the disabled, can be accompanied by a guardian, besides making it easier for those in wheelchairs.

“The construction of this playground is part of MBSJ effort to ensure the disabled group could enjoy the facilities provided in the recreational area,” he said when met after officiating the inclusive playground at USJ 11/5 in conjunction with the MBSJ’s World Autism Day celebration.

Johary added that the construction of the playground is proof of MBSJ’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 of Good Health and Wellbeing and SDG 11 of Sustainable Cities and Communities.

“We plan to build two more inclusive playgrounds this year in Puchong and Seri Kembangan.

“Apart from that, we would continue monitoring the playgrounds with the help of local communities to make sure it is in a good condition so that they could be enjoyed by the disabled group,” he said.
