SHAH ALAM, April 11 — Four districts in Selangor are expected to experience thunderstorms and heavy rains until 5pm today.
In a statement released by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) at 1.55pm, the agency said the affected districts include Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Petaling and Hulu Langat.
Similar weather conditions is also expected in other states including Kedah (Langkawi, Yan, Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim), Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera).
MetMalaysia also forecasted inclement weather to occur in Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Jempol and Tampin), Johor (Segamat, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru).
Meanwhile, in East Malaysia, several areas in Sarawak, including Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Bintulu and Miri, are also expected to undergo bad weather this evening.
The agency issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.
A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
