MPKj shuts down Sungai Tangkas illegal dumping site

SHAH ALAM, April 24 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has closed an illegal dumping site after receiving a report of open burning at Taman Universiti Sungai Tangkas in Semenyih.

It said the council’s environmental and engine units were mobilised once the report was received to put out fires while waiting for the appointed contractor to conduct cleaning operations and close the site.

“MPKj carried out investigations after an open burning report was filed by zone 18 council member Nasar Khan Mirbas Khan on Thursday.

“It was determined at the location in Taman Universiti Sungai Tangkas that the burning caused smoke plumes to spread to the surrounding area,” said the council in a Facebook post.

MPKj added after receiving authorisation from the council president, the cleaning operation and closure of the location site were carried out to ensure the safety and health of the residents within the vicinity.

“The cleaning and closure operation concluded on April 23 under the supervision of the investigation and enforcement unit along with the environmental unit,” it said.
