Nearly 30,000 manual parking coupons converted to e-coupons

By Zareef Muzammil

SHAH ALAM, April 2 — A total of 29,391 scratch-and-display parking coupons have been exchanged by users at all local authorities in the state into Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) e-coupons as of yesterday.

According to Smart Selangor Delivery Unit (SSDU), the value of the paper coupons that were converted to the digital application was RM17,942.20.

“With the conversion of the paper coupons, a total of 88.2 kilogrammes (kg) of paper were saved through the use of digital payment via the SSP mobile application (app).

“Let’s continue to help conserve and preserve our environment together,” said the agency on Facebook.

Starting yesterday, on-street parking fees in all local authorities throughout Selangor can only be made using the e-coupons via the SSP app.

Road users are encouraged to download the SSP app on the Google Play Store, Apple AppStore or Huawei Store to facilitate payment transactions.

On March 24, state executive councillor for local government Ng Sze Han said scratch-and-display parking coupon holders need to register as SSP users to transfer the value of the coupons into the app starting March 26.

He said the initiative was decided after taking into account the concerns of those facing losses following the enforcement of the digital parking system.
