SHAH ALAM, April 28 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI has allocated RM1.3 million to be channelled to the management officers of mosques across the state in conjunction with the fasting month.

Its chief executive officer Norita Mohd Sidek said the donation was distributed to a total of 2,625 recipients from 375 mosques in Selangor.

“The donation of RM500 each was handed over to seven recipients from every mosque including the imam, bilal and siak.

“It is part of our annual corporate social responsibility programme towards the mosque’s management committee. Hopefully, the donations can help to ease their burdens in preparing for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations,” she said.

Norita was speaking during the Insentif Rahmah Ramadan handover to the mosque officers programme at the Dewan Syarahan and Muzakarah Islam in the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque here today.

Also present during the event were state executive councillor for Islamic religious affairs Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni and Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.

Meanwhile, Masjid Al-Hidayah Taman Melawati Hulu Klang leader (nazir) Muhammad Deen Mohd Napiah expressed his gratitude over the donation.

“Even though the distribution is quite late compared to the previous year, I am thankful the state government has never forgotten to contribute to the mosque’s committee,” he said.

As for Masjid Batu 16 Rawang nazir Nor Hashim Ahmad, the cash money will go to the expenditure of Hari Raya Aidilfitri preparations.

“Thank you MBI and the Selangor government for the never-ending help, hopefully the programme will be continued every year,” he said.
